Housed inside a wonderfully preserved sandstone building take a self-guided tour of the historical Old Gundagai Gaol.

Pick up a map, audio tour and key to the site (to let yourself in and out) from the Gundagai Visitor Information Centre.The gaol is housed inside a wonderfully preserved sandstone building and the self-guided tour takes about one hour where you learn about the history of the gaol – dating right back to the 1850s. Infamous Australian bushrangers Captain Moonlite and Peisley were even held in cells here. You can also find Captain Moonlite’s final resting place in the nearby Gundagai Cemetery. Night ghost tours – for the brave – are also held here from time to time.
